The northern regions of North America are awesome environments of short growing seasons and harsh winters. Even at the coldest times of the year, there is an energy that I find engaging and I have tried to capture this vitality in the images below. The low angle of the sun and the few hours of daylight produce amazing light to illuminate the scenes. The snow and ice provide monochrome backdrops with beautiful textures that help to accentuate the subjects of the photographs.
